As the district continues the planning process for the new elementary school in Hugo and the new unified high school, an important component of the design and construction phases is to have a principal named for each building so that key decisions can be made to ensure a successful opening.
We are pleased to announce future administrative changes that will be taking place in the district in the coming years:
- Don Bosch, who currently serves as the WBLAHS - South Campus principal, will serve as principal of the unified high school when it opens in the fall of 2024. He will remain the WBLAHS - South Campus principal through the 2023-24 academic year. Mr. Bosch brings a unique perspective to this role, as he has served as the principal at both buildings and understands the complexities of bringing the two campuses together.
- Current Lincoln Elementary Principal Dan Schmidt will serve as the principal of the new elementary school in Hugo when it opens in the fall of 2022. He will remain at Lincoln through the completion of the 2021-22 school year. A search for a new Lincoln principal will be conducted in the spring of 2022. The Lincoln principalship will likely be filled with an existing district principal as Hugo Elementary will no longer be an elementary school, which creates the opportunity for an internal transfer.
- The WBLAHS - North Campus interim principal role served by Ang Nelson during the 2019-20 school year will be extended through the 2020-21 academic year. Given the uncertainty surrounding the upcoming school year, it will be important that Ms. Nelson remain in this role to provide a sense of stability for families, students, and staff.
“Each of these leaders has a strong record of building great relationships and successfully leading their school communities in their current roles,” said Superintendent Dr. Wayne Kazmierczak. “We are excited to have them provide important insights and leadership as we move forward during this exciting time in our district.”
