Dr. Alison Gillespie Named New Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning

The White Bear Lake Area School District is pleased to announce that Dr. Alison Gillespie has been chosen to serve as the new Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, a position that will be vacated when current Assistant Superintendent Sara Paul steps into the role of Superintendent at North Branch Area Public Schools.

Gillespie has served in the district since 2017, serving for two years as the White Bear Lake Area High School - North Campus principal before most recently acting in a role of Principal on Special Assignment. During the 2019-20 school year, she oversaw projects related to the district’s strategic plan, our equity work, and the “Future of Learning” component of the facilities process.

Prior to her time in White Bear, she served as associate principal at Wayzata High School and in leadership roles in the Richfield Career Education Program. Her teaching career was focused on English Language Learning in middle school, high school, and alternative learning settings in Minnesota, Arizona and Wisconsin.

“Dr. Gillespie brings a wealth of teaching and leadership experience to this important role,” said Dr. Wayne Kazmierczak, superintendent of White Bear Lake Area Schools. “We have witnessed first-hand her passion for all students. She has been, and will continue to be, an integral part of our leadership team during this very exciting and challenging time in our district's history.”

Dr. Gillespie will begin in her Assistant Superintendent role on July 1. This summer the district will be doing a full search to fill the WBLAHS - North Campus principal position.
